Especially when it comes to older children and when it comes to cold weather: we do not have enough programming. It’s absolutely factual that through my business, I provide a high percentage of what we have available for children’s activities: but I can’t do it all.
We are supposed to have ice skating in the winter, but the city’s “Request For Proposals” is completely unreasonable so we’ll never get a bidder for it (https://www.hobokennj.gov/opportunity/rfp—24—09—competitive-contracting-ice-skating-rink-operator-concession-at-resiliencity-park-2nd-attempt).
We should have a movie theater for families, but the city council messed that up: https://www.google.com/search?q=hudsoncountyview+movie+theater+solomon+builders&rlz=1C1VDKB_enUS1033US1034&oq=hudsoncountyview+movie+thea&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUqBggBEEUYOzIGCAAQRRg5MgYIARBFGDsyBggCEEUYPNIBCDU0MzZqMGo3qAIIsAIB8QV0X-V_Fzjh5g&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
We should have more ‘open gym’ times for things like pick up basketball or indoor soccer for older children. We can use the HOP shuttles on weekends to send our children to activities we do not have in Hoboken.
The solution is for me to be on the council so I can push for actual programming in short order-
